Title Sequence - Grand Budapest Hotel
"The Grand Budapest Hotel" is one of my favorite movies. In terms of narrative and visual composition, it creates an unparalleled effect, allowing the audience to laugh while enjoying a visual feast.
When I was working on the title sequence for this film, I was very hesitant. Because the film is so esoteric and its narrative structure is so linear, it would be a huge challenge to place the characters in the title sequence without spoiling anything. Before making the title sequence, I explored and learned from the title sequences made by others on the Internet. Many designers were talented and potential. The title sequences they made often used simple drawings and shape graphics, which effectively avoided direct cuts. Exposing characters causes spoiler trouble.
They gave me a lot of inspiration in these aspects. I used technical means such as shape layers, different blending modes of tracking masks, and 3D layers to cut out the silhouettes of the characters, and used the relationship between the characters in the movie to create them. A more layered picture.
